क्या है पूरा मामला?

Ladakh Glacial Lakes Monitoring के तहत Ladakh की 179 high-altitude glacial lakes को लगातार scientific तरीके से monitor किया जा रहा है। यह जानकारी Central Water Commission (CWC) ने National Green Tribunal (NGT) को दी है।

इस monitoring का मुख्य मकसद है:

• झीलों के पानी के फैलाव (water spread area) में बदलाव track करना
• कमजोर (vulnerable) lakes की पहचान करना
• नीचे बसे इलाकों को संभावित खतरे से बचाना

क्यों जरूरी है Ladakh Glacial Lakes Monitoring?

Ladakh जैसे high-altitude region में glaciers तेजी से बदल रहे हैं। इससे एक बड़ा खतरा पैदा होता है:

मतलब:

• अचानक glacier lake फट जाती है
• और नीचे के इलाकों में flood आ सकता है

Experts ने 15 glacial lakes का detailed risk assessment किया:

• ❌ High risk: 0 lakes
• ⚠️ Moderate risk: 2 lakes
• ✅ Low risk: 12 lakes

👉 इसका मतलब अभी situation control में है, लेकिन alert रहना जरूरी है

कैसे हो रही है monitoring?

Ladakh Glacial Lakes Monitoring में advanced technology का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है:

• Satellite (Remote Sensing) data
• Monthly tracking (June–October)
• Water spread और glacier changes का analysis

👉 पूरे Himalayan region में:

• 2843 lakes और water bodies monitor हो रहे हैं
  👉 Ladakh में:
• 179 lakes + 26 water bodies पर focus है

कौन-कौन agencies शामिल हैं?

इस monitoring में कई national agencies मिलकर काम कर रही हैं:

• National Remote Sensing Centre
• Geological Survey of India
